Hunger Relief Resources

“For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!” Luke 12:23-24

Feeding Initiative

Bread of Life Initiative

With the government shutdown, many people in our communities and church families could lose Food Stamps. Because of this we have 2 suggestions:
1. For every church to discover who in their congregation is on food stamps. Focus on helping those who attend your congregation and their families. Designate a leader in your church to assess the needs of your members.  Designate one day a week for them to visit your pantry. Raise funds for perishable items that can be distributed to your members as needed.
Bread of Life Initiative regardless of government decision
2. Soup and bread….A PARTICIPATORY APPROACH…let everyone be involved. In your church, workplace, neighborhood, etc. make a pot of soup once a week and then offer soup and bread to those around you who are hungry. Take pictures! Let us know what you are doing and who you are feeding. Post your pictures and comments to the Refuge Mission Page. Let’s encourage each other and find the hope of Christ in each other, not the government.
